The Countdown is Back On
It is Saturday March 4th and as you have gathered, departure was delayed due to abnormal weather patterns in the Pacific. That seems to be “blowing over” and tomorrow morning at 8:20am I am finally on the plane from Toronto to Puerta Vallarta to join Bill and Sharon on Turtlebones.
The delay, although unexpected, had some upside as Bill managed to order an upgrade to the Iridium satellite system which will make a massive difference in communication download speeds, which also means message size. Weather files which used to take 20 minutes will hopefully be closer to 20 seconds. The equipment is in my carry on bag so we will not know for sure until we get it installed, but fingers crossed.
If the weather does not throw us any additional surprises, and the new electronics do not cause unexpected grief, we hope to be away by this weekend coming. Thats when the fun begins!
