NZ Crossing cont’d

A quick update to Bill’s lively description of our raucous ride. A quick note to our loved ones to assuage any worries or queasy stomachs.

In a word, it’s over.  Not the ride – the ride continues, pleasant and smooth.  Just the tempest – the tempest timed out overnight.

Winds are light now, just 7 kts. The seas have softened to nice round swells, friendly, just a metre high. All as expected, as predicted – and as welcomed by the crew!

Back to using sharp knives, safely – and doors wide open to the now-dry cockpit!

We’re back out in the cockpit, enjoying this brilliant sunny morning.  Calm enough to read at the helm station and watch for migrating whales.

Flying the big Code 0 from the port bow

Strategically rolled in the genie, now flying the big Code 0. Squeezing an extra knot out of the remaining wind. Sailors know what that means – benign conditions!

  1. I’m glad you’ve survived that soggy bit of adventure. My big worry about you two now is: “After this, how do you survive a return to ‘normal life’, if in fact you have any intention?”
