Marquesas, one more thing
One more thing I forgot to mention. That I’ve loved every night – well, anyway, most nights.
The stars. Really hard to get a good pic. So apologies, I can’t convey this magic any better.
But most nights. I can’t help it, I get this big thrill. To look into the northern sky. And there it is. The Big Dipper.
Can you see that? Just above the mountain, because we’re usually anchored in a bay that is tucked into the south shore of an island, with mountains on three sides. And we are in the southern hemisphere, but just barely, so the big dipper is still there, upside down, and low on the horizon.
And then you turn your head, and look to the south, and there it is, the Southern Cross, always prominent in the southern sky. Looks like a kite.
I love that it’s all visible, north and south, right here, from this little ribbon of islands near to the equator.

So cool! I love the night stars as well! I found if I enlarged the photo I could see the stars in startling brilliance, especially again the dark dark night, where curiously, other stars seemed to be absent. Or were they just so dim in comparison I couldn’t see them?
