First Sunset
First sunset of our voyage was quite lovely, with some pretty spectacular cloud action going on.
This is my first night watch of the journey. I landed the easy 10-1 shift, and I’m pretty happy about that. We have a full moon for our first night out, which is a special treat. 🌕 The night sea looks so much friendlier in the moonlight. Nice and cool at night, good wind, and the air feels amazing on your face.
We’ve been clipping along most of the day at around 9 kts. At this rate, we’ll have 200 miles under our belt by morning! Which is faster than I’d expected. But also a lot “bouncier”. I guess the Pacific isn’t so pacific all of the time. Loving the pace, but also looking forward to some smoother patches along the way.
Meal making in topsy turvy seas is a challenge. Salmon and green beans were on the menu for dinner tonight, but cooking on the BBQ or the stovetop was not an option. So everything went into a silicone pouch – thank you, Wenda, for your brilliant gift of silicone pouches! – and cooked up together in the microwave. Well, turns out that silicone pouch cuisine isn’t just for the RV or the sailboat. Worked well enough to try it at home!

Awesome! Bon voyage and safe travels from MARK and Joyce 🙂
Safe travels 😘
